Eating carbs at night is a sin right?! Wrong! Eating carbohydrates later in the day or in the evening is actually the best time to eat them and here is why.
1. BURN FAT WHILE YOU SLEEP
Eating carbs later in the day actually increases your fat burning during the night as well as
the following day by raising something in your body called leptin. Leptin is a satiety
hormone, which put simply, is a hormone that decreases your hunger level. This means
you’ll be less hungry at night and the next morning.
2. HELP LOWER STRESS LEVELS
High cortisol (the stress hormone) can contribute to weight gain. So eating (or drinking)
carbs later in the day like the afternoon or evening will help lower cortisol and in turn decrease your

Eating carbs later in the day, or even at night increases your serotonin production (your ‘feel good’ chemical), which improves your mood and provides a sense of calm. When serotonin is elevated at night, you will get a better night’s sleep.
So before you go ordering that pizza and garlic bread, remember that there are certain
types of carbs you should be focussing on.

Ideally, carbohydrates should be of the Low GI kind, so think; brown rice, sweet potato, quinoa or beans, to name a few. To help keep your blood sugar levels even, make sure you get in a high protein breakfast and lunch with some good fats (like your avocado, nuts, olive oil or eggs).
